NCHVP has an array of offerings to engage its members in both professional development and networking opportunities. The mentoring program pairs experienced members with newer volunteer services leaders for informal sharing, idea exchange and relationship building. Each quarter, volunteer leaders in six regional districts gather to discuss topics of mutual interest and share lessons learned from their combined years of volunteer management experience. Once or twice per year, a basics workshop is offered at varied locations to introduce new volunteer services leaders to the fundamentals of volunteer services management.
Certification is also offered to members that wish to obtain professional volunteer services management certification designation. The certification process encourages NCHVP members to implement and maintain prescribed standards of volunteer management excellence. The Certified Healthcare Volunteer Manager (CHVM) designation signifies to employers a high level of professionalism and is often used by human resources personnel as a key element in hiring decisions.
