Sure! I also have to say, it's about half my job. We have teams going regularly to our ICU's and cancer units and I cover a few UNC sites. I wouldn't be able to have this many teams or manage them if I wasn't allowed so much time to devote to pet therapy. Every month we have staff meet and greets, stress relievers for residents and are involved in other events that are not related to patients, but more to the well-being of the hospital community.
Jodie... thank you for sharing! On your policy doc, under C/7/d it mentions the AAA checklist the Pet Handler completes prior to each visit. Would you be able to share that document as well?
We have about 30 active teams right now (that's a little low for us) and about 1300 active vols. I attached a copy of our policy and assignment description. We plan to change our policy to accept teams other than Pet Partners b/c it's gotten harder to recruit, especially with increased onboarding demands for volunteers.
